What is a sub/community that you wish existed (actively) on Lemmy?
Maybe there are others like you and we can actually get it running, or maybe to already exists but you just don’t know!
Model railroading. Even on Reddit those subs weren’t super active, but they at least existed.
Magic the Gathering. There’s actually 3 here already, but somehow none of them really scratch the itch to just talk about deckbuilding. And again, the 3 that are here are fairly quiet. Just doesn’t seem to be the critical mass needed.
DankChristianMemes. Was just fantastic. Perhaps the best ‘neutral’ ground I ever saw for Christians & Atheists to laugh at themselves & each other.
I would love some more active Magic The Gathering communities as well. I was pretty disappointed seeing how quiet they are.

!dankchristianmemes@lemmy.blahaj.zone
It’s a bit quiet though
Oh wow, don’t know how I didn’t find that. Thanks!
I’m very new so I haven’t explored much yet, but I wish there were more subcomminities of the communities, like for example on Reddit there’s subreddits for metal, but also subreddits for specific artists within that.
Or how there’s all the gaming communities but not many sub communities for specific games outside of maybe some of the larger games/game series.
I guess just more niche or deeper within a specific topic communities I’d say. But there may just not be enough people to go super specific with communities yet. Or I haven’t found them yet.
You can have a look at !communitypromo@lemmy.ca
A community for the car I own, no matter what it is. (With thousands of active members, of course. )
No what I mean is specific communities for specific cars. A community for 350Z owners. A community for S2000 owners, a community for Toyota 4Runner owners, etc.
People there post about their specific cars and get some answers. No need for separate communities until the activity grows

I’m aware of that; doesn’t mean that I can’t still wish for it
I’m very new here. Why is lemmy anti car?

Actually active formuladank community
Oh, man, if we could find someone on lemmy with the time, energy, and mad skills to do the same kind of race recaps that u/Alphamaxnova1 used to do I would be so happy.
Hell even lost rocket powered Mohawk on YouTube so I think it’s just the Covid hype is dying down unfortunately. But yeah alphamaxnova1 is the goat of f1 shitposts
The sequence of COVID into Season 1 of DTS into the 2021 season into new regs and the first half of 2022 was really an insane period for hype and growth. Don’t think we’ll ever see anything like it again, barring perhaps an American teenage wonderkid fighting for the world championship leading to true mainstream US adoption.
I agree though i am holding out hope for the Cadillac lineup. It’s so much bigger to have an American car manufacturer in f1 than Logan Sargeant in the Williams. I always thought there is no way American fans will want to watch their one driver come last every race, it’s gonna have to be competitive or it’s not a big deal. Hopefully Cadillac can get up to speed of at least alpine when they join but I know that’s a very tall order
I really should visit !formuladank@lemmy.world more actively, most of the time the posts in there dont even show up on my feeds I think
It’s also been in a bit of an expected lull during the off-season. I think it will pick up come next weekend when the season actually kicks off.
That’s a fair point, I did join lemmy during the off season
A general simracing community that’s not hosted on .ml
I saw this show up pretty recently, so no content as of now. https://lemmy.zip/c/SimRacing
Yep. Already subscribed. There’s two posts already, should be federated through lemmy-federate.com now.
It exists, but there is almost nobody writing. I also haven’t seen any other writing communities. I’m not interested in writing, usually, but I always enjoy reading what others have wrote.
HFY is basically the only reason I get on Reddit nowadays.
Sometimes I struggle with writing prompts for AI and I don’t understand why it is not doing what I want. I wish there was a active community for helping with that.
For example I wanted it to go through this post https://piefed.jeena.net/post/125521 and list all the movies mentioned and augment them with the release date, director and genre. But it already fails at just finding the movies mentioned. I thought this is a perfect thing to do for AI which I can do easily manually but it just takes time, but nope.
There is !gai@sopuli.xyz
Yeah that is a perfect use for AI. Here’s what I came up with:
Using this list of classic movies, can you create a table which also includes each movie’s release date, director and genre? (Insert list of movies)
Here is a table that includes each movie’s release date, director, and genre:
Movie Title Release Date Director Genre M 1931 Fritz Lang Thriller, Crime, Mystery Gone with the Wind 1939 Victor Fleming, George Cukor, Sam Wood Drama, Romance, War The Godfather 1972 Francis Ford Coppola Crime, Drama Taxi Driver 1976 Martin Scorsese Crime, Drama, Thriller Murder on the Orient Express 1974 Sidney Lumet Crime, Drama, Mystery One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest 1975 Milos Forman Drama Rear Window 1954 Alfred Hitchcock Mystery, Thriller, Crime Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb 1964 Stanley Kubrick Comedy, War, Satire Chinatown 1974 Roman Polanski Mystery, Thriller, Drama Le Grande Bouffe 1973 Marco Ferreri Comedy, Drama L’Avventura 1960 Michelangelo Antonioni Drama, Mystery, Romance Tengoku to jigoku (High and Low) 1963 Akira Kurosawa Crime, Drama, Thriller This table lists the movie titles alongside their release dates, directors, and genres. Let me know if you’d like more details or adjustments!
See, yours didn’t list all the movies either, just the ones from the post but not the comments. I tried to copy and paste the whole conversation but that also didn’t really work. One time I thought it did it because it came up with over 100 movies but then when I checked it just invented movies instead of listing the ones which were in the conversation.
Ahh ok sorry I was barely awake and just grabbed the first few, misunderstanding what you were trying to accomplish.
Copilot was really bad at this, but logged into free ChatGPT, it gave me this list on the second attempt with reasoning turned on (first attempt missed a handful of movies). I didn’t check super thoroughly but they seem to all be there, and I don’t see any that aren’t in the post/comments. I added numbering in a subsequent prompt.
Prompt: Can you go through this post including all comments and create a table of all of the movies listed, and add their release date, director and genre? Be very through and make sure to list all movies as some may be formatted differently, and some are mentioned in sentences and nested comments. https://piefed.jeena.net/post/125521
Below is an updated, comprehensive table that includes all of the movies extracted from the post and its comments – now including “The Matrix” and “The Sandlot” among others. Note that for some titles (like “Tengoku to jigoku”), details are approximate.

Damn… This takes forever to scroll.
Can you hide this behind a thing that makes it collapse somehow? Took me 5 minutes to scroll on the phone. I am now late for an appointment.
Edited, just for you because you made me laugh.
SpeedofLobster! A good lobster always cracked me up.
Without a doubt, it’s Queens of League. It’s an unhinged, thirsty gay mob shitposting about League of Legends.
I miss my cheap knockoff watch sub r/ChinaTime
I wouldn’t mind some of the Random Acts to come over and be more active. Even though I never used it, I always thought the idea of the Random Acts of Pizza was a grand idea for those who are in need.
Random acts of cards was my #1 fav sub but I’m unable to participate now (long story see my post in the byereddit community)
Random kindess was cool too.
The small niche communities are the ones I’ll probably never see again, like /r/reverseanimalrescue /r/TheNightFeeling /r/darknetplan
There’s !thenightfeeling@lemmy.world !
Ahh thank you! I loved this over on reddit.
Comic_Crits and ctpsd creatives. Somewhere to post personal comic art to share and receive feedback.
Parent/Trying for pregnancy/pregnancy.
I found the pregnancy conversations on Reddit (while I was on Reddit is fun) to be much less toxic than on those discussion forums on pregnancy apps.
More women-oriented communities would be great. Skincare, makeup, women’s fitness, female health, nail polish, aging. I’d love that.
A nail one would be great. Maybe we can make one.
Today CheeseToastie created a new community for women’s interests. I’ve agreed to share it around so if you’re interested, come join us at !WomensStuff@lazysoci.al
And I’ve just posted in there a very important nail polish question! ;)
Oh exciting!
Yes! Or fiber/needle arts! Im struggling to quit reddit because theres like 6 crochet posts over here T_T
Yes! The number of great patterns I’ve gotten off of r/knitting has been invaluable to my learning.
Oh my gosh thank you <3 now i need to do my part and help with engagement haha
Hi mate! We’d love to see your crochet stuff at !WomensStuff@lazysoci.al we’re for all things women related
Agree! I’d love to see more discussion around female health, not necessarily constructive but just bants about the ‘gross’ stuff, memes and complaints and stuff. The issue is that I’m a comment contributor more than a poster, as much as I try. So as much as I’d like to Be The Change, it really has to come from a lot of us posting and interacting.
Today CheeseToastie created a new community for women’s interests. I’ve agreed to share it around so if you’re interested, come join us at !WomensStuff@lazysoci.al
If I started a women one that covered all of that, would you help me promote it?
Sure!
Great it’s !WomensStuff@lazysoci.al just in the process of building it
Awesome, thanks! :)
Np post away! If nothing else I’ll chat with you haha
