I always enjoy the April Fools efforts from Guild Wars. They’ve done all sorts of things from making all players tiny, giving them bobbleheads, making them go into “airplane mode” (a reference to a t-pose animation glitch but with added “homemade” sound effects) to entire quest lines and even an entirely new game mode inspired by 8 bit platformers that spawned its own festival because it was awesome. This year you can relive some highlights from recent years, but the new addition is being able to open your own Cat Cafe in your homestead.

I miss the original GW classes.

I could never “click” with any of the classes in GW2. I wanted to enjoy it, and did to an extent, but it never kept me coming back.

That being said, I have a friend who is still VERY active in GW2 all these years later, so I guess its just me, lol.

Did my trans coming out on Lemmy today to confuse the homies. Some were not sure if the post I did was serious or an April fools joke. Mission accomplished.

My least favorite part of April 1st these days is inevitably some game dev will make a fake post about a game that looks SICK and then it’s just a joke. Clearly people want that shit so just fuckin make it instead of joking about making it.

    Edit: typos

See and that would have been fucking sick. More companies should embrace goofy April fools ideas as actual games. I think too many great ideas are stomped out early because some guy in a suit thinks it wouldn’t have mass appeal or whatever. You know how many people we’re not the target audience for BG3 but totally fell in love with that game??

War Thunder’s event this year is pretty tame compared to normal, but its still fun.

First, they released a trailer for infantry in their vehicle combat game. This turned out to be a misdirection, and instead, they released an event adding WW1 vehicles.

The event itself is a weird, misbalanced, buggy mess, moreso that normal War Thunder, and moreso than you would expect making experimental anti-infantry vehicles fight each other. That said, its a fun novelty nonetheless.

Honestly, last year’s (the Mad Max extraction shooter) was really fun. I ground my way through most of that just for fun.

It was a lot of fun. Basically, everyone got Mad Max versions of some of the normal light vehicles for the event, and were dropped into a large desert map. Then, you had to collect different materials (one of which is earned from kills only) and get to an extraction point. Anyone who is killed drops their loot on death. The loot was used to progress a mini-tech tree, upgrading the event vehicles and unlocking non-event cosmetics.
