At this point we are the only consequence he can get. Congress refuses to act, courts do, but he started to ignore them, institutions are gutted.

This unfortunately won’t end without us going on the streets.

No, the bill presented by GOP congress excludes any president that served two consecutive terms.

So currently, the only person on the planet that can serve a third term is trump.

Well, trump wouldn’t be elected into position - that is explicitly prohibited. So no running for him or Obama.

The “loophole” is that he’s trying to line up a coordinated effort to elect other GOP members. After elected they’ll nominate trump into the line of succession as Secretary of State or another unelected position. Once the pawns are in place, the line of succession simply has to step down until it falls to him. Third term without breaking the “elected twice to office” condition.

IMO this is just to test the base and get them used to him stay in the office until he dies then someone from his family takes over or maybe musk himself.

The goal is a dictatorship and if there will be an election it will be a sham one line putin has.

I agree it would be a temporary measure. Realistically Republicans only need ~6 more governors on board before they can start talking constitutional amendments, and do away with these pesky restrictions all together.

This “loophole” wouldn’t work. There are plenty of people in the line of succession that are ineligible to be President either due to being too young or being foreign-born. First, if it gets to the point where one of them would even become President, we have much bigger problems to worry about. Second, those people that would be ineligible would simply be skipped over for the next person in line who’s actually eligible.

Sure, they could use the same backwards logic and hand-waving of Constitutional amendments that they’ve been using all along, but at that point they might as well just make an exception for the 22nd amendment and call it a day. If they’re just planning to hand-wave away the rules anyway, why go through all those extra steps when just saying that the 22nd amendment is unenforceable would be quicker, easier, and accomplish the same thing?

It’s a stupid loophole and hard to coordinate. The simple solution is for trump so send jd Vance, or whoever Trump figures can win and gets added on as VP, then he’d spend forever saying how the people wanted him back so badly. The President will step down and Trump again

He can’t run as VP because he is ineligible to be President. VP is the only position in the line of succession that can’t be skipped. Anyone chosen as VP must also be eligible to be President.

The easiest way for them to do it is to go the “Casino” route. Put in some sock puppet as President and have Trump be the “senior advisor” that’s calling the shots behind the scenes. Kinda like they’re doing now with Musk.

I realize I’m playing advocate for a devil that needs no help, and I hope you’re right. Simply saying there are arguments taking place that seperate the concepts of “being elected” as defined in the 22nd vs “being ineligible” as defined by article 2.

As it’s been explained to me, this interpretation would of course be challenged, and ultimately determined by our wonderful supreme court.

Adolf Hitler said he had solutions to all these problems. Screaming his threats and boasts, he could seem insane to outsiders, but he was saying what his audiences wanted to hear. He promised jobs, better living conditions, restored power and pride for Germany, and suppression of communism and other political trouble-makers. He also attacked Germany’s Jews, saying they were responsible for Germany’s defeat in the war.

Despite his growing support, some had a hard time taking him seriously. Hitler’s boasts that Germany would regain power sounded so fantastic, it kept the world laughing for a few more years.

Its not game over, not by a long shot. Its not even game over if the fascists solidify their rule. There will always be dissidence and rebellion. If you’re feeling like we’re not doing enough right now you aren’t involved with the right groups. There are people.setting things in motion against these all over the country. Let’s shake these AI blues and start rebuilding our faith in each other and our communities. Fascists are only strong when the people are isolated.

Why three terms? If hes doing such a good job when do we need elections anymore? We need trump till death and then then name his successor. It wont be JD. Itll likely be someone from his family. Ivanka fits the bill. He needs to get JD out and let ivanka in.

Careful, the scrapers might give the wrong message and this comment could end up in a 3 IQ news story about how alternative social media is warming to trump.

Not really. But they are that fucking stupid.
