As an American, I’m fine with the US no longer being the most influential anymore, as long as the most influential country that replaces us is a democracy. Preferably much more democratic than we are.

I wonder if Rome had stand-up comedians, and if they had the best humor before the fall.

Every political move Donald Trump (Krasnov) has made since he lived in Russia has been an order from the Kremlin.

Like he lived in Russia for years, changed his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican, married a Slovenian escort with ties to the KGB, and then ran for president as a Republican with the full support of Russia’s and China’s troll farm operations (confirmed by the US Gov)

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_interference_in_the_2016_United_States_elections

And Russia and China are allies.

So anyone paying attention can see this is Russia and China attempting to dethrone the US as the boot on the neck of the human race.

And TBH I’m a lot more afraid of China’s boot considering the dissenters dissappear.

Be careful of Chinese troll farms invading these spaces to push their messaging as the US is dropping the ball.

He’s traveled there a bunch and owns real estate in Russia, but I don’t believe he ever lived there? I also haven’t seen any real evidence that Melania has any ties to the KGB outside of just being Russian.

Edit: before anyone gets any ideas I am an American and I did not vote for trump.

He might be making decisions on behalf of Russia (no comment), but a LOT of rich and powerful Americans and politicians supported him and what he said he was going to do (which is exactly what he did do).

The USA absolutely dropped the ball.

Depending on whether it is a slow self dismantling or a rapid explosion the US will either be a lot less, or a lot more influential.

Yeah, I’m sure it’s funny to anyone who has disliked U.S. policies and I don’t take issue with that, but I really wonder if you’re going to be laughing when Russia and China fill the power vacuum left with America’s collapse and suddenly those countries are in control of the world’s shipping lanes.

Fucking morons. America has made shit moves, to be sure, but they supported the majority of the world’s population against far more authoritarian regimes. Revel in your cheers, you fucking idiots.

That’s the problem with Lemmy: anyone who disagrees with your anti-American sentiment is labeled far-right. No chance an American liberal could possibly disagree with you, right?

        Fucking bigoted pieces of shit.

Uh, No. the PRC is far more poised to take over the role of international leader than the EU are. Not necessarily a bad thing, I would argue, but I really don’t think the EU could get itself in line to be world police/masters quicker than the PRC

We’ll see, won’t we? It’s not like USA are the the first empire to fall. The next empire will act in their own interests just as the USA has done.

America has made shit moves, to be sure

I think that’s an understatement. It’s got some things right. Due process (at least for US citizens until the war on terror) was a good idea, but that seems to be a thing of the past now aswell. It never really thought the international rules they instated applied to themselved though.

but they supported the majority of the world’s population against far more authoritarian regimes

Like in Iran, where they orchestrated a coup de’tat against Mosaddegh? I wonder who reigns in Iran now… Surely after the helpfull intervention of the USA and UK their leadership is even more democratic and liberal now.

And I am sure their intervention in Irak had nothing to do with oil and was all about the chemical weapons we’ve all seen by now. I meand, yes, they were pretty secular back then and had a similar standart of living to us. So what, if the islamic state today is a direct consequence of US intervention and the power vacuum they left behind?

And the indescriminate poisoning of millions of Vietnamese had nothing to do with deformed children beeing born. They had to be protected from their own authoritarian goverments, you see? What are a few handicapped children in comparisson to that?

I could go on forever, but you get the idea. In my eyes the USA never was a force for democracy or freedom, but their own (and as an European my own) benefit.

I doubt China will be any better, but at least from what I’ve seen so far their imperialism seems to be mostly economic (though they might simply be biding their time).

I’m sure they’d exploit any weakness they find in us, just as we’d do to them. So basically same old story… And who’s cheering this exactly?

Say what you want, that’s my point. If you think the world will be better after America’s fallen, just wait and see. You’re a bunch of fuckin’ morons. As much as America had its sins, it was a stabilizing force in the world. Don’t fucking complain when you see the aftermath. Just don’t. Whine as much as you want, that’s all you ever do. Wah, wah, wah, no National creates my utopia, and it’s all because they don’t do what I think should be done! You’ve got tons of criticism but you can’t actually identify a solution. Grow the fuck up and acknowledge you don’t have the answers you think the world needs.

This isn’t the deathbed though. We still have by far the most powerful military in the world, a huge foreign policy apparatus, and a large integrated economy. This is like if your asshole boss comes down with a mental illness and just starts going nuts. Sure, it’s bad for him and could be kind of good… but there’s a high chance you’re going down with him.
