Rogan isn’t bad because a lot of guys like him (In addition to many women, mind you), Rogan is bad because he platforms right wing bullshit and conspiracy nutjobs.

My absolute favourite thing is women doing things that “only men do.”

    (P.S. am a woman)

Look, idk about you, but if you haven’t played soldiers and tanks with a bunch of grown ass men, get yourself to a WH40k group and learn what cool is.

There absolutely are women who like Warhammer.

Historicals though… I’ve never seen a woman excited about fielding an army of Burgundians against a bunch of English. It can get worse… Napoleonics, ancient stuff…

And then you’re hanging out in your local shop looking at some Space Dwarfs and stroke up a conversation with a dude who starts talking about the Black Templars and how cool they are for defending the Imperium just like All of the Real Crusaders which is honestly kind of weird because the dude is fucking Asian?

      That wasn’t your damage, bro.

I know a few women who enjoy 40k. But the ones I know enjoy it like how I enjoy it… Just painting figurines, making little dioramas, and pretending like we understand the rules while some smarter player gives up and just tells us what to do next.

personally, the only person i’ve known who actually played wh40k was a woman (she played tyrannids). i’ve been wanting to get into it since they introduced leagues of votaan, but it is a pricey fuckin hobby to get into.

The price is daunting at first, but once you see people’s army’s and start seeing your own minis improve, it becomes a real hobby and you make it work.

I’ve probably spent way more money on paint, brushes, and practice minis before I started on my armies.

          It’s worth it IMO.

I do too. I’ve never met them, but come on. Playing tanks with grown ups. What’s not to love.

Paint your army, roll a bucket of dice, shout funny things. Play combat patrol, or just do a good ol beer hammer at a local brewery.

After spending ten minutes on the toilet pondering, I think „growing facial hair“ is the best counter-example I can come up with.

Or I just don‘t know enough women who like growing facial hair.

As an enby I respectfully disagree. I personally don’t enjoy the stage of facial hair where it looks like crap but I like beards and if I could make it past that stage without chopping it off I think I would very much enjoy letting it grow.

      Very good suggestion though.

As a binary trans man I’m curious why you’re putting yourself in the same basket as women when so many other non binary trans people have spent so much of their valuable time and energy trying to communicate that y’all aren’t women lite, but hey, it’s your free will to exercise.

I’m not a woman and wasn’t claiming to be. People can be only partially female I think there’s labels like demigirl and genderfluid which are relatively common and can fit the partially/sometimes female if you want to do further research. (Also Sometimes I do feel rather fem myself)

So enbies can be “women lite” but it’s an umbrella term for anyone that isn’t just (not meant in a negative way) male/female.

The problem here seems to arise from the assumption that non male people would be women.

That’s simple. Growing facial hair isn’t cool, it’s facial hair itself that’s cool.
Someone with a big walrusy Wilford Brimly moustache is cooler than someone who’s working on growing a moustache.

Well groomed, long hair, like well-maintained, thick, stretched earlobes, communicate patience and the ability to finesse your way through difficult, potentially uncomfortable situations in service of a larger, long term goal. Unfortunately, you can be very patient at becoming an asshole as well as becoming a decent, well rounded person. Facial hair doesn’t make you cool. Being a cool person makes you cool.

I know someone who has given up on figuring out what their gender is. They’ll happily accept any pronouns but hear “she/her” most often due to their appearance. She wants a beard so bad, and already grows a tiny mustache.

So basically your 10 minutes were for naught

I would really love to have a beard. I have joked that I am clearly wishing I were a dwarven woman, because besides this, I am very happy with my assigned gender at birth

I also have a friend who, due to hormonal stuff, naturally grows an extremely thick and impressive beard and wishes that they didn’t have to shave it (if they don’t, they get hate crimed :( )

        most real reply here.

Happy bearded ladies are real. Upsets the hyperbreeding propaganda in my country though, so harassment and supression is real. But those things come from other people, not the beard growing itself.

Verified real complaints about sweaty summer beard. Also braids and beads sexy.

Also, intersex people are real, varied, and probably more common than red hair genotypes. Either ridiculed or fetishized, again not unlike ginger pigmentation.

I’m very glad for my eyebrows and eyelashes, and there’s that Sikh woman (relevant because of the religious ban on cutting hair) whose wedding picture went viral like a decade ago. She had a pretty full beard and had styled it beautifully with small flowers woven into it.

Some of us were doing facial hair before it was cool…

… And some of us started going bald in their teens and wanted beards to help cover up double chins and a tiny mouth but did enjoy a brief period of looking like white Jesus before that happened 🧔‍♀️

Personally I come from a long line of hairy fuckers. Clean shaven is not an option because it literally grows back in less than a day. Plus I like the beard had it for decades.

As hairy as my face is, I’m thankful I didn’t get the hairy back gene. My legs, chest and ass though, I’m kind of like a satyr without hooves.

Do you really think they’re cool though?

I have hobbies that are very male-dominated, but I know they’re not cool, and that doesn’t bother me. I’m happy being uncool and enjoying my hobbies.

I think the difference is that some boys are unembarrassed about liking Joe Rogan, and make it their whole personality. You should feel a little embarrassed to admit that you listen to Joe Rogan. You should feel embarrassed that you’re obsessed about WWE or UFC. But, it’s not just male things. Niche interests, especially niche interests that are gender-specific are things that don’t make you cool. Like, a girl who is obsessed with makeup tutorials on TikTok shouldn’t think that makes her cool either.

Tomorrow’s the SuperbOwl. If some guys are super excited about that, it’s fine. They should just acknowledge that being obsessed with a sport played by other people isn’t cool. It’s as uncool as Warhammer 40k or… trains.

Agree with the mansplaining angle. Passionate people like to explain, combine this with not being the most socially adept and voila you have mansplaining.

I think there’s a negative cycle also, where a male-dominated hobby where many people are not super socially skilled makes them more oblivious to some of the nuances that turn “explaining” into “mansplaining” (I.e. they are less likely to understand how their behaviour is making their hobby less welcoming for certain people), which makes the hobby more male dominated, both in appearance and actuality
